Slacker!!

Hi everybody!
Oh I know, I know... it's been FOREVER!!!! And it's been eating at me that I haven't paid you any attention what.so.ever. There have been many times that I've visited my own blog and thought, 'wow, that girl needs to update her blog...' yea, I talk to myself like that... don't hate.

So here goes... blog posts are always better with pictures, so I thought I'd just SHOW you a few of the things I've been doing since I glanced over at you last... it's really been like an elementary school relationship, huh? 'I only know you on the playground when my friends are around'... I'm really sorry, but thanks for always getting on the merry-go-round with me anyway. :-)

So, there was Steve's 48th birthday, Jamarri's 7th birthday and Braden's 2nd birthday...

(it was a spa gift card!)

Jamarri was so excited about all of his gifts!

Braden had a ton of fun opening his presents all by himself!

And oh the basketball games... wow did that taken up a LOT of time!! But it was so great... the boys love basketball, especially Blake... as you may have come to know, Blake has a LOT of energy, and I mean a LOT of energy... he's very aggressive and fouled out of a bunch of games! Trey's a great 'bottom guy', he can box out and "put a butt on 'em" to get those rebounds and back up for his 'signature shot'!

He made it!!

This kid is over 6' tall... seriously. He wears a size 13 shoe!

Then came Thanksgiving...

Anna Kate decided she was hungry...

Then Christmas!

However, this was no ordinary Christmas! Gilly came to visit again! "Who's Gilly?", you ask? Well, he's our mischievous little Elf that visits every Christmas!! He gets into trouble, but thankfully, it's the kids' job to clean up!! If they don't do it themselves, then Santa comes to pick up Gilly the next night. Yep, that fast! Santa don't play.

Before Gilly went back with Santa, he left the boys a little message... out of marshmallows. Then Beau (our doggie) ate the message and had a tummy ache. Not pretty.

Awwww!! Look at my sweet new pajama'd boys!!
But this is the real truth!!

The BBC Choir went caroling to shut-in's and then to Bridge Street in Huntsville! Sooo much fun!!

I had a few photo sessions for children, engagements, and my first wedding in December too! (Well, not my first wedding... it was Amy & Josh's wedding, just my first wedding to shoot!!!)

Amy & Josh are such a darling couple!! They are very grounded in their faith in the Lord and share a precious love for each other. There's always something that happens (or in this case doesn't happen) at every wedding that isn't planned... at Amy & Josh's wedding, it was the kiss... yeah, the KISS!! You got it... Pastor Lon forgot to tell them to KISS!!! Josh & Amy knew it, and did a little 'half-peck' but some of us didn't realize it until it was time to go to the reception!

I heard someone mention something about the kiss and I looked back through my images and thought, "What?! I didn't get the kiss?! Have I lost my mind?! Why didn't I get the kiss?!" I was seriously about to have a heart-attack... I really thought I had missed it!! Then Josh told Pastor Lon that he didn't tell them to kiss... WHEW! I was really freaking out! but then Pastor Lon had some 'splainin' to do!! He announced them at the reception and made up for his little boo-boo...

Here's a few shots from those photo shoots:

These are the adorable Burke children... aren't they sooooo cute?!

Here's a quick pic of how much 'energy' little Mr. Burke had... yes, I chased him... a LOT! :-)
And these two were so much fun!! Their grandmother wanted some photos of them in their jammies at Christmas... they thought I was crazy when I laid on the floor to get some cool angles! :-)

And then Kristen & Andrew!!! We had SOOOOO much fun shooting their engagement session!
Poor Andrew was so hungry! They used 3 outfits and 3 locations and he was about to pass out!
He was a trooper, even though he was starving, he didn't mind the 5 hour make-out session!
:-)

AND, because K&A were such fantabulous models, I submitted a few of their photos to CreativeMYK, a Christian website that helps graphic designers and photographers alike... we share images and clipart to make our presentations and advertisements really fabulous! Here are the ones they accepted!

I did a little traveling in January!!

First I went to Lewisburg, TN to the 5th annual Grove ladies retreat with my step-daughter-in-law and daughter! It was a wonderful weekend, filled with worship and learning more about God's grace and mercy...

My other trip was to Stone Mountain, GA with a bunch of pre-teens from BBC and Flint River to the SuperStart Conference! This trip was for 4th-6th graders ONLY! Katy bar the door!! No little kids allowed!
While there, we learned about doing Good Works for God... we heard about some amazing kids that are doing some amazing things for an amazing God!!

Not to brag or anything... ok, well maybe I am... but I was #2 of #26 on my first time to ever play Laser tag!!
This is one of the cool pix I got in the laser tag place!
This just proves you can get cool pix just about anywhere! :-)

Fast forward to this month:

Daddy turned 60!! He thought we were just taking him out for his birthday,
but much to his surprise, some of his brothers and sisters (and their spouses) were at the party!

This is only 1 of 2 photos I have of me, my Mom and my Memaw!
(Yep, they're so cool... they totally rock Facebook!)

Ok, so I did a little more traveling...
My latest trip was to Nashville for the Sandy Puc Tour last week! I. LOVED. IT!! I would love to be able to attend more photography workshops... maybe when my rich uncle gets out of the poor house. (**This is a shameless plug for Hubby, Mommy and Daddy to take note of!**)

I really did learn alot and was VERY inspired to give back by using my camera... I never really thought about it, but I can stop time....... think about that for a second. Your camera stops time... you can remember that moment forever!! I'm trying to figure out exactly what to do, but it will definitely have something to do with Relay for Life coming up in May. If you have an idea, please let me know, I'd love to hear your ideas!! One thing I've thought about is having a drawing for a FREE photo session! I'm thinking each entry could be a dollar or two, or maybe do a strip of tickets for a certain amount, then draw for the winner on the night of Relay... hmmm... idk, tell me what you think! Another of my fabulous ideas is to do a photo session for our local Survivors... now my wheels are really turning!! I'm getting excited just thinking about it!!

This is Ms Brenda Baeder, she is one of our BBC Believers leaders...
we did this photo for an article that will appear in the Hsv Times in the next month or so...

To quote my friend Sharon McClure, "I don't think I can take much more of this Global Warming!" I'm with you, Sharon!! :-) Snow, Snow, go away, come again some other day!

So there ya go... I FINALLY posted something! I guess this one is long enough to last me another 6 months! :-) Just kiddin', I'm really gonna try harder... :-)

A day in the life...

Hey everybody... I know you must feel so neglected. I really hate that I don't blog as much as I want to, but it's so hard to take a minute and just type about the daily happenings of lil ole me... really, I can nut-shell it for ya... get up (late), fix lunches, bolt out the door (late), get Trey to school, get Blake to school and go upstairs to work... work a little, play a little, get Blake (late), pick up Trey (late), * or go home (*insert random errand here), straighten the house, take the boys to practice (for whichever sport they happen to be playing at the time), sit at practice, go home, get boys into bed, check my email and facebook, go to bed.

And that's about it... I would say boring, but no, no, no my friend... never a dull moment with me. (if you are around me for any amount of time, you will find out that I have a very infectious laugh... as I'm told quite often!) Not only that, but with two boys, it's crazy more often than its sane... ask any mom of boys, they'll tell ya that I'm shootin' it straight. This is not meant to belittle other mommas, yet it is to let you know that it takes some-kind-of-momma to be a mom of only boys... some-kind meaning a half crazy one.

So as you can see, a day in the life of me is not boring, per se, but it is pretty mundane.... mostly the same ole, same ole. BUT THEN... there's a day like today when I decide that I'll cook my homemade-made-up-by-me soup and I decide to get the boys hair cut... don't worry, nothing catastrophic happened, everybody liked the soup and the boys hair looks great! Hey, even SUPER picky-eater-children's-pastor, Justin ate a whole bowl of soup!! He doesn't like soup, tomatoes or vegetables, so this is a huge win in my favor... especially considering that it was especially hard for him to pick around all the veggies in the tomato based "Italian soup"... ((let me know if you want the recipe!)) So I guess you may be wondering why I said, "BUT THEN... there's a day like today when...". And so, the rest of the story...

I took the boys to get their hair cut at a local salon... she did a great job, but her 4 year old grand-son was there and to say he was a hand-ful would be like telling you that Katrina was a small storm that got a few houses wet. Ok, usually I'm the one mad as fire at my kids for cutting up and not listening... but this time, my kiddos looked like angels, I mean trumpet-toting, halo-wearing angels!! At one point, I made Blake sit on my lap because even though he wasn't doing anything that was 'bad', but just him being able to walk around was feeding this kid's rambunctocity (yes, I am aware that I just added a word to the dictionary) to levels that no one on earth could possibly measure. I know my kids are rambunctious boys and many times they go overboard... waaaaaay overboard, but this kid asked me "Why can't he get up?" and I said, "Because you two are being very wild and I told him he has to sit in my lap so y'all will settle down." Pretty straight-forward, right?! And then it happened... the next few things from his mouth B.U.R.N.E.D M.E. U.P... I mean, I could feel my blood pressure rising and my face had to be flaming with fire! He said, "If he can't get up and play with me, I'm NOT going to be nice!" I said, "He has to sit down because I'm his Mommie and I said he has to, and you need to listen to your Mommie too." (She was washing a lady's hair, within earshot, but I don't know how much she actually heard... she had gotten on to him several times, but with very obvious meaningless threats) THEN HE SAID TO ME, "Just go home, go home, go home, just go home." ((My face is getting flush just thinking about it!!)) I was sitting down, so I leaned closer to him and said, "_his name here_, that is enough, you WILL NOT talk to me that way, do you understand me? And you better go over there to your Mommie. Now." (Yep... read it just like you know how I said it... I was BOILING!!!) I don't know if said Mommie overheard what I told him or not, but the next thing I knew, she was taking him to the back room (for the ump-teenth time during our visit)and I overheard her say, "___name____, you better listen, you don't want your grandmother to come over here, you know what you'll get." WHAT?!!?!!!???!!! Excuse me here, but again, my blood pressure rises because I'm thinking "grandmother?????, seriously?!" COME ON MOMMIE!!!! What in the world are you doing?! I know all of this was bothering the lady that was getting her hair washed, she had already asked me if "all of those were my babies"... I was quick to show her my kids and disclaim __name__... Bless her heart, I know her nerves had to be shot! I know mine were!!

So tell me about your latest 'experience', was it as fun as mine??!!

Football + Ms Ashlynn

Well, it seems like it's been 4eva since I've posted... so sorry for that!

So a few weeks ago, the HGHS football coaches hosted a 1/2 day camp for the 'little kid' football teams... there were probably 100 kids out there learning the game from the high school coaches. Blake had a great time and learned a lot! Here's a few pictures from the camp:

You're probably wondering why the title of this post has a "+ Ms Ashlynn"...
well, here's the reast of the story...

Toward the end of the camp, an adorable blonde-headed, pink-polta-dot-dressed little girl comes up to me and says "You take piture 'me, k?" So of course I took one, how could I resist! Little did I know that this 'little girl' was a 'little diva'! She had gotten some dirt on her dress, so I told her it was on there and she looked down and said, "I go get s'more, you take piture 'me, k?" So of course I quickly scanned the parents looking for her Mom... "I have a visual"... but to no avail, by that time, Lil' Diva was D.I.R.T.Y... I mean dress and all... "Oh goodness... lil Diva's dirty and Momma's gonna have a come apart" was going through my mind... and then, lil Diva headed over to Momma, "Oh no, she's gonna say something about a camera, point my direction, and then..." was running through my head... "Whew, Momma knew about the dirt adventure and thank the Lord, I went to school with her... now maybe I won't be in too much trouble!" She didn't look too happy about the dirt, but it appears that she wasn't going to fight that battle today... We've all been there, huh Mommas?! :-)

So here comes lil Diva... she said, "I'm go down'dayer, you take picher, an I come riiiiite back, k?" I thought I'd giggle my head off as she came back a little dirtier than the time before, repeating the EXACT same statement each time! So here I was, taking photos of the rough and tumble boys out there on the field and this adorable, dirty little girl... when I came home to download the pics, there was a football pic, a diva pic, a football pic, a diva pic... here are a few pics of Ashlynn, aka "Lil Diva"

This is from Traci, aka "Momma"... "Girl, they are soooo good!!! Thank you so very much! I appreciate you sending those to me, you are a great photographer!... She loves having her picture taken, she is a little diva, hahaha! And BTW, that dress came all clean, thank GOD! That is the first time she has really ever gotten dirty haha!!! Thanks again..."

To Traci... thanks for allowing me to take pictures of your little Diva... she's adorable!!
